Prehistoric Lies

The album’s strongest moment, and the place where everything the collection has been building toward arrives. Running six minutes in a minor key at a clip that feels more urgent than the blues-rock tag suggests, ‘Prehistoric Lies’ earns its runtime through a lyric that keeps tightening its own noose: ‘a factual fiction, the truth now denies’ lands harder each time the chorus comes around, because PCBender has actually built toward it. The verses do real work, moving from cave walls to megabyte faith with a coherence that a lot of concept-driven rock fumbles, and the guitar solo that arrives late in the track, all bent phrases and earned heat, lands the way a good solo should, like a statement, not a decoration. After eight tracks of accumulated emotional and philosophical weight, this is where the album cashes in. That it does so fully is what makes this a record worth returning to.

Lyrics

I lit my name on a wall of stone Watched it dance in the firelight’s moan Told myself I’d found the spark divine But I was just afraid of time

You’ve said it so long, you believe that it’s true An endless obsession - the myth becomes you A factual fiction, the truth now denies Your stories are fables… Prehistoric Lies

Now I preach through a wire and glass Selling faith by the megabyte mass Every word I speak got a barcode price Every god I build demands a sacrifice

You’ve said it so long, you believe that it’s true An endless obsession - the myth becomes you A factual fiction, the truth now denies Your stories are fables… Prehistoric Lies

Now I’m sifting through bones of belief Dust and doubt all tangled beneath Found my heart still beating in disguise Wrapped in skin of prehistoric lies

You’ve said it so long, you believe that it’s true An endless obsession - the myth becomes you A factual fiction, the truth now denies Your stories are fables… Prehistoric Lies

I dig through the noise for a human tone But every echo sounds like my own Maybe the truth just fossilized Maybe I’m the lie I idolize

You’ve said it so long, you believe that it’s true An endless obsession - the myth becomes you A factual fiction, the truth now denies We’re born, we burn, we breathe… Prehistoric Lies
