On the Advent of a Dream

Eleven strong tracks and one solid one across forty minutes is not a problem most bands have, and 4Castle spend ‘On the Advent of a Dream’ making it look easy. The album opens in waltz time with its title track, a patient, harmony-rich declaration that sets the tempo and the terms, then accelerates smartly through ‘Scattershot Forget-Me-Not’ and ‘And the Gods Fell Down’ before the half-tempo gut-punch of ‘Tiger’s Eye’ resets the room entirely. ‘Paradox of Contradictions’ is the one moment where the album coasts rather than commits, arriving mid-sequence when the stakes feel highest, but ‘Bit Wise Resistance’ and ‘Next to Nothing’ pull the album back on course, and closer ‘Gone and Forgotten’ lands with genuine weight, earning the minor-key resolution it stakes out.
