Bit Wise Resistance
From On the Advent of a Dream
Bit Wise Resistance
‘Bit Wise Resistance’ is a waltz that hits like a protest march, which is exactly the kind of contradiction 4Castle pulls off when they’re firing on all cylinders. Running at a driving pace in 3/4, the chorus lands the concept cleanly: ‘Tear down the firewalls, burn through the gate’ has the same blunt declarative lift as early Rage Against the Machine sloganeering, but the five-part vocal stack underneath it pushes it closer to Heart at their most anthemic. The chugging minor-key verse does its job setting the tension, and the payoff when that chorus opens up is genuine. After the playful lightness of ‘Pixy Stix,’ this track re-engages the album’s serious register with conviction rather than abruptness, and the waltz meter, shared with both ‘On the Advent of a Dream’ and ‘Pixy Stix,’ creates a subtle structural echo that ties the album’s spine together without announcing itself.
Lyrics
Bitters sit in towers high Counting numbers, selling lies Watch the people work and strain Feed the system, lock the chain Lines of code become the law Wrote the rules, they break them all Silent hands behind the screen Power hides where none can see
Bit Wise rising, cracks in the code No more silence, won't die alone Tear down the firewalls, burn through the gate Bit Wise Resistance-it's already too late
Bitters laugh, they hoard the keys Trade your life in policies Every wire, every screen Tells you who you're supposed to be But The Bit Wise know, The Bit Wise see Truth don't die in binary They wrote the script, we found the flaw Tear it down-rewrite it all
Bit Wise rising, cracks in the code No more silence, won't die alone Tear down the firewalls, burn through the gate Bit Wise Resistance-it's already too late
"Lines of code don't rule the mind Hands that build can realign Bitters fall, their grip is gone- Bit Wise rising-power's on!"
