The shift from contemplative ballad to frantic blues-rock is the kind of structural gamble that either reads as theatrical or exactly right, and here it lands squarely in the latter camp. At 161 BPM when it finally opens up, the track has real urgency beneath its apocalyptic lyric, and the production keeps the dense full-band stretch from turning into a wall of noise. A strong opening statement.
