The Talaros

The talaros of the title is a woven Greek strainer, and PCBender builds the whole song around that image: a vessel that holds what it can and lets the rest fall through. It’s the kind of conceit that could collapse under its own cleverness, but the arrangement keeps it grounded and weightless at once, hazy Juno pads and a tape-wobbled arp drifting over a half-time pulse at a patient 103 BPM. The best moment is the lift into the chorus, where the mix opens up and the vocal climbs into “Not subject nor object nor truth disavowed / Unreasonably quiet and silently loud,” a line that pays off both halves of its paradox. That the song hangs in A# major rather than resolving anywhere firm is the point: “Better still, to let them go,” it decides, and the release lands. The lyric leans dense, and the third pass through the chorus asks for more patience than the first, but the payoff earns it. A highlight, and one that holds the room by staying quiet.
