‘Tumbleweed’ follows the opening statement with a small act of daring: a waltz at a brisk clip, and PCBender pulls it off. The track leans into that rolling three-quarter feel with a slightly overdriven lead guitar that phrases like it has somewhere to be and nowhere to be at the same time. The rhythm section keeps things honest and tight, giving the guitar room to stretch into the kind of SRV-adjacent lick work that sounds best when it’s not trying too hard. That shift from the opener’s swagger to this looser, more rolling gait is the first sign that the album is going to move through more tonal territory than it initially shows. At nearly four minutes across eleven sections, the track sustains its momentum without overstaying its welcome, a creditable feat for a purely instrumental piece built on feel rather than flash.
