Limerick

‘Limerick’ is the shortest track on the album and one of the looser ones, a two-minute-forty romp that swings in 3/4 at a clip that feels closer to a barroom shuffle than a waltz. After the reflective mood of ‘Nyanza,’ the shift in tempo and attitude is exactly what the sequence needed. PCBender leans all the way into the looseness: the lead guitar trades soulful string bends for quick, fleet-fingered runs and back again with the easy confidence of someone who knows exactly how much rope to give a solo. It doesn’t overstay its welcome, and that restraint is its own kind of skill. In the context of the album’s back stretch, ‘Limerick’ functions as a palate cleanser, brief and buoyant, clearing the way for the more deliberate moves that follow.
