Beat Lightning

“Beat Lightning” finds PCBender in a cool, head-nodding groove at just over 103 BPM, built on a clean rhythm section and understated keyboards that give the whole thing room to breathe. The hook does the heavy lifting: “the hush is loud, the echo thin” is a genuinely good line, and the chorus rises out of the conversational verses with enough harmonic lift to feel earned each time it lands. The outro couplet, “broke men float when rhythm’s tight, just catch the beat and steal the night,” closes the track with the kind of worn-in wisdom that fits PCBender’s voice perfectly. A highlight.

Lyrics

Double down in chocolate town What goes around is lost not found Slipstream dreams in neon haze Counting backwards through the blaze

Triple dare can't compare When nothing's there you're unaware Cracked facade on Tuesday's face Truth evaporates without a trace

Is the song already over Or just waiting to begin The hush is loud, the echo thin- Is this the start, or just beat lightning

Slipping riding peeping hiding Really only alley darkly Snapback shadow, tongue-tied thrill Buzzing wires that won't sit still

Bebop don't stop on top Four square don't care nearly there Jukebox preacher in a static trance Spins one line then breaks the dance

Is the song already over Or just waiting to begin The hush is loud, the echo thin- Is this the start, or just beat lightning

I look behind the darkness Like it's paint upon a wall The billboards share their secrets Which they swear I can't recall

When the alley bares its soul And the dawn begins to stall Are the cobblestone confessions A reminder to us all

Is the song already over Or just waiting to begin The hush is loud, the echo thin- Is this the start, or just beat lightning

The wild mind returns the stare And splits the diff from here and there The shimmer of the silence asks The question once again

Is the song already over Or just waiting to begin The hush is loud, the echo thin- Is this the start, or just beat lightning

I'm spent, money's gone Nothin' left, gettin' on One shoe tied, the other draggin' Past the dream that's still just laggin'

But broke men float when rhythm's tight- Just catch the beat and steal the night
