At a brisk clip in a minor key, it earns its weight the old-fashioned way: a dynamic build that actually delivers. The verse breathes and grieves, and when the chorus hits early, the guitars land with the kind of full-room weight you get from peak-era Heart, while the band locks into a groove that keeps the heaviness from feeling mechanical. The bridge couplet, ‘the hands of time unravel all we leave behind / they steal our dreams, forget the lies we tried to hide,’ is where the lyric rises above the grief-ballad template and stakes a real claim. As a closer it answers the album’s opening question, that gap between vision and ability introduced in ‘On the Advent of a Dream,’ not with resolution exactly, but with the kind of earned exhaustion that feels more honest than triumph. A genuine highlight, and the right way to end.
